So, we have a pretty well established 75 gallon at home - finally got everything looking right with live plants, some driftwood and the tank clear as can be! Within an hour, our freshwater tank was absolutely filled with thin, white flakes? It almost looked like it was snowing - some flakes where quite large. The water was otherwise clear. We tried using a net to scoop some out and as soon as it was out of the water, it turned into a brown/green mush.
We've never seen this before and have no idea what it could be from googling and posting in other forums. We just added in two green severums, some snails and a couple more live plants two days ago but everyone is doing well. We have an automated feeder so it's not overfed and we just did a water change this morning around 10 and noticed this around 1. We pulled out our filter (rated for 150g) and nothing appeared wrong with it. It seems as though they're almost all gone now - maybe something with the filter?
Has anyone ever heard of this or have had it happen? Thank you!
