This grew on my new spider wood within 3 days of putting it in an almost new tank (everything’s new but the gravel, which was dried out and then bleached and rinsed with boiling water). There are no fish in the tank yet. Don’t want to put them in until I know it’s safe. What is it??

Hi Treydaddy, I had a similar outbreak on some driftwood that had been dry for sometime in the cupboard. It will eventually disappear as mine did. Just let the tank cycle as normal and all should be ok. Please let me know the results?

Its a type of bacteria bloom that will seep out of the wood. Im pretty positive its harmless but will continue to grow for a very long in the aquarium.
