Interesting. Not knowing what it was I removed it from the tank, but maybe I should have kept it?

If there was one, will there likely be more?

When/if I find another, what’s the best thing to do?

If you absolutely don't want any snails, I understand that NO Planaria has been known to kill snails and is safe for shrimp. You could get assassin snails to kill the pest snails, but then you just have a different type of snail.

A Pea Puffer will make sure you have no snails and leave you wishing you had more snails because your pea puffer is hungry.

The real question is, with a new tank, no live plants, and only one Berta fish that was sold individually in a plastic cup, where did this snail come from in the first place?
