Ok, so I am looking to upsize from a 55 Gal to a 90 Gal and was wondering what the best method would be. I am not looking to add any more fish to the tank.
The 55gal has a canister filter rated for 125gal and a HOB rated for 55gal. could I transfer the filtration and gravel from the cycled 55gal to the 90gal and just put the fish in?
Or should I set up the 90gal and completly cycle before putting the fish in?
I also have another HOB filter that I could add that is rated for 55gal which is currently inactive.

I don't see why that shouldn't work. Don't forget the de-chlorinator :p

A lot of people recommend swabbing old filter medium all along the bottom if you're changing the gravel completely.

I will probably have to add some clean gravel, but would like to use whatever I can to get to make the transition as easy as possible for the fish.
