I removed the bio balls from my reef today. I cannot detect nitrates in my water but I still think there's a chance that removing the bio balls will help keep algae out of my display. I dont have a big problem with algae, actually dont have a problem at all, but I can see some growing here and there...
What do you guys and gals think about using bio balls in a reef that already is heavily skimmed and has a refugium and pretty much all the other bells and whistles (except ozone)?
All comments and thoughts appreciated! Hopefully this thread will be able to help other people later on down the line decide to go with bio balls or do without them.
