Starting saltwater aquarium on day 1 with fish

I have a guy here claiming he can start his saltwater aquarium from day one and that I should do it too. His method is: Put in bacteria starter and fish in, on day one. I think this sounds very wrong, what do you guys think? He is also claiming to be using ICP tests.

Welcome.
I think he's wrong but I don't have a salt tank, so will let our resident salt keeper chime in.

My intuition says so too.
It's been a long time since I set up my saltwater tank but the guy isn't wrong. There are products like Instant Ocean that provide a ready to live in environment.
Also live substrate is available.
I'm pretty sure I didn't cycle my tank back then either and used a dry salt product from the fish store I worked in.
It can be done

Back in the early 80’s that’ what I was taught, right or wrong. The local “trusted” fish store that had knowledgeable employees ran you through the process, gave you some seasoned substrate, sand, dolomite from their tanks, and from what I remember Black Mollies to start the cycle… Also Damsels we’re cheep at the time, but I believe Mollies also worked.. Just saying I believe it can be done.. Just my opinion…
