I have a couple goldfish at the office. I like it but goldfish have been done before. I'd like to mix it up a little and throw in some shrimp and maybe a snail. When I tried this earlier (in a smaller tank) the shrimp disappeared one by one and the snails were pestered so badly I moved them to my home tank, away from the goldies.

Question: I'm going to try to get some carpet going in a dwarf hairgrass or something and make some cover with driftwood and rocks. Will this give the shrimp enough room to hide and possibly stay alive? Suggestions (I know, I know - other than getting rid of the goldies)?

Will get eaten. Unless you provide lots of ground cover+protection to where they reproduce faster than they get eaten. But that sounds unlikely
