Hello helpful souls!

I'm "cross posting" here as I'm also a member of bettafish.com. Reason being that I' really worried about my little friend...

We have persistent problems with what i think is fin rot. We have treated him with antibiotics since Tuesday this week (4 days today) but he seem to get worse. I really hope we can help him, because he has a great character, is very responsive and playful, and made his way to become "family" with us :)

Housing:
How many gallons is your tank? 5 gal.
Does it have a filter? yes.
Does it have a heater? no, we live in a tropical climate.
What temperature is your tank? 29C.
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? yes.
Does your Betta have tank mates? What kind? none.

Food:
What food brand do you use? Optimum
Do you feed flakes or pellets? pellets.
Freeze-dried? no.
How often do you feed your Betta? How much? 2 time / day, 3-4 micro pellets.

Maintenance:
Before
your Betta became ill how often did you perform a water change? 1/w.
What percentage of water did you change? 30%.
What is the source of your water? tap.
Do you vacuum the substrate or just dip out water? yes.
What additives do you use other than conditioner? What brand of conditioner? API.

Water Parameters:
What are your water parameters? Please give exact numbers. If tested by pet store please get exact numbers. "Fine" or "Safe" won't help us help you. Important: Test your water before the regular water change; not after one.

Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: Somewhere between 0 and 5ppm, hard to judge by the colors in the test (API chemical test)
pH: 7.8 to 8.0
Hardness (GH): unknown
Alkalinity (KH): unknown

Symptoms and Treatment:
When did you first notice the symptoms? A few weeks ago
How has your Betta’s appearance changed? Yes, for the worse.
How has your Betta’s behavior changed? Not much, he is active and very playful, always swims to the glass when we approach the tank. His fins seem to be harder to move so he have a harder time to swim now, but he's a fighter and trying.
Is your Betta still eating? Yes. We occasionally feed him mosquito larvas and he chase and eat them and seem to love it. He is "speeded" long after he have consumed them and trying to find more.
Have you started treating your Betta? If so, how? Yes, We started treatment Tuesday (4 days ago) with Seachem KanaPlex, as recommended by a local vendor. The last dose of treatment is today (one dose every second day as per instruction on the container).
Does your Betta have any history of being ill? We suspected pop-eye and posted som images here, but i think no one could decide if it was pop-eye or not (Diagnose red patch and possible pop-eye)
How long have you owned your Betta? A few months.
Was he or she ill or suffering some sort of damage when purchased? No.

He is changing color in a raging tempo.
