I see I got on board--maybe I'm not so dumb afer all. I used to have two 75 gallon tanks -one with african chiclids and the other an Amazon tank with Angels, tetras and live plants--that was 15 years ago.. I now have a 7 gallon with live plant and whiite clouds. I want to get a 20 long with live plants, and good lighting. What's better-power compact or T5? the tank is only about 12" high.

I plan to use excell and the substrate from aquarium plants.com. I'm afraid of ph crashes because my water has low alkalinity.

I currently am setting up a 20L gallon. I love its size. I will be placing live plants in it, but my lighting will be low...about .8 wpg. I rather not get too high tech being a beginner into this hobby.

Welcome aboard!
