Heya gang,
Since I love to talk about these little honey's so much I is starting a new thread.
I do have a serious question though as well.
How long can a Nerite survive if they have flipped themselves over and haven't been seen?
Luckily, I dunno what possessed me but I took my flashlight and looked in the corner of my tank.
For the second day in a row there's Red trapped on her back flailing around.
I know what she's doing and it's not to smart, it's right below the heater and I think she's gotten herself a hotfoot and fallen on her back.
She's fine but wondered if I didn't see her all night would she live?
silly snail

I just ordered 3 olive nerites
Oooooo. I wish I could have more.
I almost bought a couple from that Saltwater fish store I went to. It was apparent that she is growing her own Nerites, super cool shop.
I added 2 red racers earlier this week, I like the design

I was shocked and slightly horrified when I went to clean my hob filter and found Speedy hanging up there completely out of the tank.
I thought I snail proofed it but apparently they can climb out any time. Eeek.
I'm going to have to cut the back liner a bit tighter when I change filters.
The Nerites are probably peeved that I cleaned all the brown algae they were supposed to be cleaning.
2 of my olive nerites, need to get some calcium for them

Nice ones. Are they in your Betta tank? More brown than green to me, love em!!!!
Your long awaited snail pic of the week. Speedie and his new girlfriend Orange Crush. She's actually bigger than him.

Most of the blemishes that were on Speedy when I got him have healed, he's such a good looking snail. lol

Can't help it, more pics but I'll see if I can make them thumbnails. I did another major clean on my tank fighting brown algae. Of course I then worry that my 4 Nerites won't have enough food so..
I tried Cucumber again, Speedy chowed down on it, I then tried some Zucchini, WOW, they like Zucchini alot, darn near devoured the entire slice I put in.
Quick question, should I limit how much Zucchini they get or can I put a new one in every day?

Here's the gang munching out

If you feed daily they will stop going after algae. Just feed once or twice a week.

I have more algae than snails at the moment, they totally ignore the wafers. In fact, the platies swarm the wafer once it starts breaking down after like 30 minutes. The platies eat their own food, they eat their own fry, they eat the snail wafers, and they eat the shrimp party sticks 😅

Hey,
Question about this Tiger Nerite I rescued. She has a couple pretty deep blemishes on her shell. She's very active and seems in good health.
I'm not sure if I should try to fill this hole in or just leave her. I know she'll thrive in my tank, zero shell deformations in the two smaller Nerites I got.
I read about someone filling in the hole with crazy glue but if she's fine should I even bother doing anything?
Thanks in advance
The hole I am talking about is right near the natural hole they have, just below it. The other blemish is right in the middle of the shell but not as deep as the other, it's fine.

I don't think that break is bad enough to warrant triage. I'd just leave him be and keep an eye out to make sure the other snails don't feast on the calcium of the broken shell area

Thanks Kurama, I'll keep an eye on her
