Heya gang,
Since I love to talk about these little honey's so much I is starting a new thread.
I do have a serious question though as well.
How long can a Nerite survive if they have flipped themselves over and haven't been seen?
Luckily, I dunno what possessed me but I took my flashlight and looked in the corner of my tank.
For the second day in a row there's Red trapped on her back flailing around.
I know what she's doing and it's not to smart, it's right below the heater and I think she's gotten herself a hotfoot and fallen on her back.
She's fine but wondered if I didn't see her all night would she live?
silly snail

Nerite are intertidal, they can survive in the wild up to a month out of water with minimal to no food. I've had one outside the tank for potentially 8 hours with no issue. Upside down is more likely to attract fish to attack/try to eat them, as long as you are checking the aquarium and flipping they will be fine

I guess it doesn't take much to make me happy, hehe. When I see my snails actually cleaning the plants I am thrilled.
Sir Speedy is so big that the plants lean way down, he hangs on and cleans them anyways. Go Speedy!
Spot is so small she can maneuver easily through the light leaves and cleaned the Wysteria up really nice. Good job Spot!
 Nerites and SF Fourty Niners FTW!

Lol I love nerite snails. Grab some moss from somewhere and glue/tie it to the castle roofs. That would look cool.
I have some snails too, but they hitchhiked in on my plants.

Yeah, I figured they could stick around. And they are multiplying. If they get to where they over populate, I will get the cucumbers out. But for now they are ok.

As to what kind they are? Just plain ole plant snails I guess. Maybe someone can tell me what kind they are?
Yikes. That's why I love my Nerites, no unwanted babies. Are they eating your plants?

I have so much Anacharis, I cannot keep up with all of it. If they are eating it, it's ok I have plenty.

They might. I see my snails eating the little bit of algae off of my moss all the time. Found one sleeping on a moss patch one time also. Looked at the tank before work and snail was in moss. When I got home it was still in same position. Started watching TV and few hours later that same snail was running around the glass. 😆

I looked at some Christmas Moss, I like the leaf shapes.
But hey, were you all waiting for another Snail Pic? Of course you were. ;)
Spot hitching a ride on Speedy. Spot up during the day is an occasion on it's own, she's really nocturnal.
