Im sorry,i dont mean to be Captain negative but unfortunately, youve been sold a fish that becomes very aggressive as it matures - to its own and other fish too.
And they get quite large making them even more dangerous to their tank mates.
They are pretty good algae eaters when young but as they mature their tastes change.
The CAE end up being one nasty fish and should be kept alone in a fairly large environment...NEVER with other fish.
These fish have an horrific habit of latching on to other fish and sucking their slime coating off...sometimes,scales and all
They will eat smaller fish without hesitation and will chase victims down, exhaust them, and latch on to feed 😢😡🤬
They SHOULD NOT be sold in the aquarium trade and to be honest, the best thing you can do at this point is take it back to your LFS. If you dont, youre going to bring grief to your tank like you wouldnt believe.
Again,im VERY sorry to deflate your enthusiasm but those guys are truly a nightmare...you desrve a better experience than that
Whoever sold that fish to you needs a foot up the %$#^&
I have had to return fish I really liked for one reason or another. I feel yaYa they are characters, we got them to take care of the algae and they’ve cleaned 75% so I’m proud but sad I have to let them go. View attachment 34240
