Ok so I'm struggling to get my head around the hype of the python system..
Im still carrying buckets around when doing a water change.. And I treat all the water with the needed treatments before I add it to my aquarium.. Less stress on fish and bacterial death due to tapwater chlorine..
So as far as I know, the way to use the python system when topping water off is to tap tapwater directly into your aquarium without treatment other than temperature..
Isn't this bad? Has anyone ever lost fish due to this convenient style of maintenance?
I've been using the python for 10 years with no issues. When using the python, you treat the entire tank with dechlorinator for the full volume of the tank as the water is flowing from the python, rather than pretreating by the bucket.
Yep, it's really a back saver. I wait for the flow to start and add the drops right then.
I have had zero issues and the fish think it's fun when I refill the tank with that nice stream.
hehe
In the summer, when removing water from my tanks with the python, I take off the faucet attachment, pull the hose out onto my deck, suck on the end of the hose to start the siphon, and then once the water is flowing down over the railing, I pull it up and use it to water my flower pots and flower boxes. If no watering is needed, I still drape the hose over the railing to remove tank water. Definitely saves on water.
