I have recently learned that there is some conflicting stories about hex shaped tanks and the life span of the fish. I have had 2 hex tanks a 45G and a 60 G. Both started leaking at some point. I must point out that I got both used but I have always bought my stuff used. Anyway, did I just get unlucky or are hex tanks more likely to leak then a standard shaped tank. I kind of though that with all those joints that go up, it might be more proned to leaking. My grandmother wants a tank and I was going to buy just the glass and give her my stand and other equipment I already have. I just don't want to set her up for future problems.
I figured with a 60 gallon hex, and some small community type fish the shape should not be a problem.

Thanks

i have only had rectangular tanks in my experience..

as for the tank habitants, you are right the least care would have to be a community tank
