I bought a 55 gal tank today from a guy who had cichlids and a puffer in it, very healthy looking fish and i'm trying to think up what kinds of fish i could get that will go well together... I really want oscars but want other fish as well, so maybe just get community fish? I'm not sure so what are some fun fish that i could get together?

What do you mean by fun? Do you mean active? Unique looking? Schooling? Colorful? Predatory? All of the above? None of the above?

It all depens on what you want.

Oscars are great fish, but a 55 gallon is generally considered too small for an oscar. I think the major problem is most 55 gallon aquariums are too narrow. An oscar will actually grow longer then the tank is wide.

You might want to look at other american cichlids. The ones I have encountered are not as interactive as oscars, but definatly interesting fish.

Community fish are great if you want variety. You could ealily get several schools of small fish to provide variety and movment to your tank.

There are lots of options out there.
