Hello all,

In the past I dabbled a little in freshwater aquariums, but it has been a while though. I thought this round I would try to build a reef tank. I have a friend who has a 90gal mostly fish tank. She is currently running one actinic and one full spec. bulb. I plan on adding a mh eventually. I have already had a few questions answered her and I appreciate the advice. If anyone else has any suggestions on light set-up's, I could use all the help I can get.

Thanks,

Randy

A wood canopy holds heat in, having an open light fixture that's adjustable height will help to dissipate the heat. Keep water temperature in mind and don't cook the tank. The first time you setup whatever it is you end up with, watch the water temp very closely and plan to stick around the house so you can watch what happens to the water temperature after a couple hours. You may need a chiller depending on the light setup you end up with, so keep that in mind.
