I have a eheim canister filter and I have the water coming back on one side with the width of the tank. do I not have enough water flow or should I hang it higher so it hits the top of the surface?

you are getting zero surface agitation, just like a stagnant pond is what this is resembling, raise the outlet so it breaks the surface, once this is done you will be fine.

Since you have a canister, have you ever thought about a spray bar instead of just a tube outlet?

i would do more than just raise the outlet tube, thats pretty nasty. get some bubbles going, and another powerhead or somthing.

Nice moss wall. gonna look good when its grows in.

The bubbles should die down, but they also show you got alot of current in the tank. what fish are in there? and do you have slow spots in the tank where the fish can rest from that current if they want?

no fish yet. but I think Im gonna go for cichlids maybe??? but not to sure on that yet. if I do out will come the moss and Ill put a piece of holey rock. as for slow spots theres a place behind the driftwood and when I put the rock in there will be a place behind there as well. but the fish is still up in the air.

not sure about the eating of the shrimp, but silver dollars will surely eat any plants in your tank! including your moss wall
