Dwarf baby tears and algae

Well, I thought I was doing good 😅

Hair algae is winning it seems, I was rocking the fluval3.0 at 100% for 12hrs/day for the longest, everything was pearling and growing strong, then a java fern near the top of the tank got some hair and it's been a uphill battle lol - at one point the platys had eaten it all - but now it's gotten into the DBT carpet.

I'm slowly cranking the co2 up to see if I had it too low, it's hard to make adjustments without knowing what's lacking lol

Original regimen:
Fluval3.0 100% 12hrs/day
Co-op easy green dosed 2x week
Co-op easy iron dosed 2x week
Co2 with a 1point pH drop
WC 50% weekly

Current regimen
Fluval3.0 50% 6hrs/day
Co-op easy green dosed at 1/3rd daily
Co-op easy iron dosed at 1/3rd daily
Co2 with a 1point pH drop
WC 50% weekly

Can't use algecide because snails, and I have an order of shrimp in transit, I'm hoping they come hungry lol

Isnt twelve hours of light a bit excessive? When I get back inside I'll see if I can find this article I was reading earlier for eradication if just this type of algae.
If you have done any reading on it well a few say the only way to rid your tank of it is a complete tear down.
Hang tuff
Yea it was a lot of light but it was going strong. It took so many months to set up I am not tearing down lol, I'll put the snails in hospital and use algexit as a last resort
I hear you, im avoiding tearing down my tank as well. From what I read its very hard to control.
Sorry
6 to 8 hours should do it. Baby tears can grow in medium lighting no co2. If you run high light you need co2 also.

Read your product description on this algexit. Works on all green algae. Brown diatom algae isn't affected by any algicides
I gave it a few days blackout and upped my co2 and it seems to be helping we'll see how it goes
