New to the forum here!

I want to hear people's opinions and/or experiences... Starting with distilled water, what's the easiest and/or most effective way to increase GH and KH (and pH if necessary or recommended) to the ideal levels for a non-planted 6 gallon betta tank? (The tank will be heated and filtered and all decorations will be inert) Is there any additive(s) that is awesome at maintaining a stable (and proper) pH while also increasing GH to the ideal range? If so, does the product(s) work instantaneously or does it take time to change and stabilize the water parameters?

P.S. This 6 gallon aquarium is a gift for someone who wants a betta but whose water has a lot of limestone and isn't really safe to drink. Therefore I think it'd be best to start with distilled water and add stuff into it to make the water parameters ideal for a betta. I appreciate any advice!
