Hi, my penguin biowheel 350 filter (in a 37g tank) would stop if the power would go out so I put it on a battery backup which keeps it up during power outages. That helped but now even without loosing power, it stops, by itself. I have to tap the outside of it (around where the impeller is) and it usually starts back up. I'm thinking about going with the better quality emperer biowheel filters. Anyone have experience in emperers?

The Penguins ive used do the same thing, but not because the impeller stops, usually its because of the low flow rate, and any build up at all around the path of water flo. The Marineland filter 400 or 250 have always performed better for me, kinda like the eveready bunny. they just keep on turning no matter what. I have had a couple that got noisy due to impeller failure, but that was minor compared to the general reliability.
