I'm looking for a quite air pump. I have a 55 gal aquarium and I am using the whisper air pump. Any suggestions?

Thanks

The whisper should be fine, what do you need another for? Really, unless your turning the temp way up, your filtration system should supply all the oxygen required.

Make certain the pump isn't touching anything. Any pump is noisy if it touches something such as the tank or another object.

I also put a small amount of open cell foam rubber under my air pumps. It keeps them from 'migrating' and dampens the sound.

I find the whispers, even a brand new one, will rattle my bones they are so noisy. Instead I use a Rena when I want a quiet pump. The model depends on how much air you feel that you want. Rena will even tell you how many typical air stones each pump will run at particular depths which is quite handy. Because the air flow is adjustable over a wide range with them, I like to go a bit bigger than I expect to need. Any pump is noisier if it is being pushed to the limit.
