My experience with Clown Triggers
Clown trigger is considered to be the most beautiful and intelligent fish in the reef. It was also the most expensive pet fish on the market in the drawn of marine fish keeping. The first clown trigger fetched $650 in 1953 and has since marked down considerably but still relatively costly for large matured evenly patterned clown trigger. You will certainly appreciate the brain power of this pet: clown trigger is the only fish in my tank that can follow my command, just like a dog in the tank. He is such a bully that I have to ask him to go back to his den (show him a stick outside the tank is enough) before I feed my angle, otherwise the poor blueface got nothing in the meal time. Clown trigger's intelligent to the fishes is just like African grey parrot to the birds, I was fortunate enough to had both at one time and they played together! How?!! Put the parrot outside the tank (of course)perched on the door of the tank stand and you would see trigger and parrot meet, beak by jaw and starting picking each other with vocals. My trigger grunts and my parrot was bilingual, amazing!!!
Quite a few reef fishes change color to express emotions and Clown trigger is probably the most moody among them. Cosmo(my trigger's name) keep changing color when asked to go away, from vivid black and white to dull grey to almost full white belly and back to B&W when I done with angel feeding and ask him to come out (just shake the pellet food jar to signal him) from den.
Cosmo eats anything: worm, broccoli, fly, apple, dog biscuits, glass chips (!!! from dirty substrates), which fortunately got out in Cosmo's rear end without harm.
Stay tuned, more to come.....
Success is measured by years, not by months.
