Stunted growth??
Definition of stunted is as follows:
"to stop, slow down, or hinder the growth or development of; dwarf:
A harsh climate stunted the trees. Brutal treatment in childhood stunted his personality."
I have a dead one in another container. I have a tape measure. They are 4 inches. If I could upload another picture, I have him beside a regular sized Cory. Geez.
I am trying to ID him because I need a companion for the one left.
I am 53 yrs old. I know how big 4 inches is.
Stunted makes the body stop growing but the insides and BONES keep growing. So in this case I think that it was stunted and the back bones kept growing thus ending up with the high arched back. No such thing as a jumbo cory, they are just cory's that have grown a bit bigger then the other cory's for sale and they label them as "jumbo" to make more money. I once bough a jumbo cory, and a few months later my other cory's were as big as him.
Yes, we found out it is a peppered cory.
Thank you.
I can't seem to get another picture posted, but I do have a picture of a tape measure up next to the fish. He is 4 inches.
Oh my gosh, you weren't kidding when you said those pictures were deceptive lol.
But there is still one question that remains unanswered. Why is his back so arched?
He dosen't have enough rays on his dorsal fin to be Brochis Splendens. It looks like a plain old Cory dorsal fin. Could he be a hybrid? Instead of saying "Huge" a real measurement would be more helpful.
I take that back. On google search in images, look at brochis splendens and there are some that have shorter dorsels. Some are more green, some more silver. So--- maybe. Either way it is a cool and perfectly content looking little fish.

He did give a real measurement, 4 inches. And then he also showed a picture of it by a measuring tape. And it has been solved, sorry but you're to late.
This one and a companion were abandoned and we adopted them. They were exactly alike. Both were the same size and both had the arched back.
We went around to 3 fish stores today and concluded they are peppered. I am hoping the one remaining schools with the new littler ones.
no doubt ; that is one big cory.and it is very old.many species will get arched spines with age.and without a doubt i agree that it is a C. Paleatus..
