Having Trouble Sexing my Bolivian Rams.

Haven't been active on this forum for a while, but I'm back now. Been reading through comments and have seen some aggression in the forum, hopefully that's not what this forum has become.

Anyway, I recently got a few Bolivian Rams for my tank. I love them, they're such beautiful fish. I'm having trouble sexing them and I'm not sure if their behavior is a sign of aggression or if it's a mating ritual. I'm hoping it's a mating pair and that I'll have some fry sometime soon. Can you guys look at this video and let me know what you think? Thank you so much. Looking forward to being back and seeing all of you again!

Re: Having Trouble Sexing my Bolivian Rams.

They both have their vent s showing ,which would lead me to believe breeding.
The one on the left in the beginning looks very skinny like has already layed eggs?
Look hard for eggs, and see if they take turns guarding an area.....

Good luck.

I just got them yesterday. So I doubt they laid eggs already, but I'll keep an eye out for them. I'm really hoping you're right! That'd be awesome.

I once bought some fish( I can't remember now) and the next day I bought an anubias nana and I checked on the tank about 15 minutes later and they had laid eggs on it!!

Yesterday!
OK
I am not as good with Bolivians as GBR but I will guess you have 2 females.
The skinny either did recently lay eggs or has an internal parasite(very skinny?),the other looks like it will lay eggs.
The ovipositor?(vent) on both appear the same in video so just guessing they are same sex?
They only show their vents during breeding.

Re: Having Trouble Sexing my Bolivian Rams.

Okay, I do not think it's a parasite. They've been cautiously guarding one spot in the tank for the past few days. Maybe I'll have some fry here shortly!

55 Gallon

2 Angelfish
4 Diamond Tetra
5 Neon Tetra
5 Red Eye Tetra
2 Blue Ram
4 Albino Corydora
1 Upside Down Catfish
3 Fancy Guppies
