Electric Blue Jack Dempsey

Are EB Jack Dempsey's so territorial that I could only put one in a 75 gal tank?

If not how many could I put in a 75 gal tank?

Also are they plant killers? If I had to pick between the JDs and plants the plants would probably win.

Re: Electric Blue Jack Dempsey

I cant comment on whether you can have multiples, I have no experience with cichlids, however I'm pretty sure they cant be paired w/ live plants.

70 gallon- Betta Enisae pair, betta Ocellata pair, female Betta Pugnax

29 Gallon- Betta Pallifina and Betta Patoti

20 Gallon- Betta Gladiator

5 Gallon- Betta Channoides

And numerous Betta Splendens

Coming soon: Betta Macrostoma :D

Re: Electric Blue Jack Dempsey

well shoot. I really love live plants. Sigh....kind of a deal breaker for me as a tank kind of looks naked to me without live plants.

Thanks.

Re: Electric Blue Jack Dempsey

They should do fine with sturdy plants like anubus, ferns and such. And if you get a male and female a pair would look great.

I don't know about plants but I know that they grow to be big fish. I'd only keep one in a 75.

Re: Electric Blue Jack Dempsey

The electric blues are about the size of an Oscar but not as aggressive and a pair would work in a 75 gal

OK. They are not within my area of expertise. I should have kept my mouth shut.

Re: Electric Blue Jack Dempsey

So as long as the plants are sturdy, and a 75 is big enough it's all good. hhhmmm

I would really love to have a pair. I'm planning on a 75 or 90 gal in the spring. I'd like to get two EB Jacks, small ones so I could watch them grow. That seems very cool.

Thanks everyone
