First live rock marine tank [55 gallons] pics

Hey all, I wanted to share my first marine tank. This is a sumped 55 gallon live rock marine tank. Since this tank is somewhat narrow we went with a mounted back panel of rock to add more depth to the smaller amount of foreground rock that exists. This was built by a local aquarium store, I like it quite a bit. Hope you like as well!

since I'm new at this this is what I'm currently doing:

1. Waiting 30 days before fish so tank can cycle
2. Keeping light on for only a few hours of the day to make sure competing stays bacteria out

Thanks!

That looks great! I'm very curious about this mounted rock panel. Are the mounted rocks live? How are the mounted and what are they mounted too?

This is done by using egg crate and mortar mounted to the back glass panel, then rock mounted with mortar to the egg crate, the 3d effect comes from the chamber that holds the piping to the sump on the back left corner so it gives it a stuck out kinda look. The panel rock is not live

thank you!

Nice looking setup!
How are you cycling if the rock isn't live?
Are you using a shrimp?
I really like the look of the tank.

thanks! the foreground rocks (5 or so pieces at about 23 pounds) are live rock, in about two weeks when everything is settled I plan on adding shrimp and maybe a few other things.

thanks!

A pair of blue damsels will make it thru as well.

Success is measured by years, not by months.
