Thoughts on Anemone

Wanted to get some thoughts and input of those who have anemone's in their tank. I have a 40 gal with no other coral in it besides stuff that was hitchhikers on my LR ( all seem to be thriving). I have a couple of oc clownfish and was wondering if one anemone can host 2 clownfish if they decide to host it and im still realitivley new only been in saltwaterautolinker.com autolinking image for about 4 months now so I heard nems can be a lil finicky. Any advice and thoughts would be great...thinking of getting a bubble tip btw

Re: Thoughts on Anemone

Make sure your water quality is exceptional.Nems will tolerate no mistakes. Then you need to move on to light. They mostly feed off of light,so strong lighting is needed.I've read and actually followed the wait one year before an anenome.Actually I tried one 4-6 months in and it did not survive. My mini carpet has been doing well for the last 3-4 months.(sometimes it takes 6 months to a year to kill{or watch something die}).
I've upgraded from it taking 6 months to a year as experience can be painful if you really care.

Water parameters are key, can you post yours? Even with the clowns seemly happy in your tank the nitrates could be higher then nems like. As coralbandit said, lighting is also key, what type of lighting to do have?

Re: Thoughts on Anemone

If you feel you have control over your water quality then go for it.The moon beems won't help the nem any as they require strong lighting.
If it looks un well you will have to be willing to accept the loss and look to upgrade lighting before attempting again.
Eitherway the choice is yours as it is your tank.
Know that not all clowns will host with anenomes even given the golden ticket. They can be funny like that, and although everyone sees clowns rubbing in nems mine have never even noticed my mini carpet.Go figure?
