Thought for a moment my Fire shrimp died..

As a first time SW tank owner, the smallest of things surprise me. This morning I took a peek into my tank at my sleeping fishies / inverts, and saw my Fire Shrimp out and curled up on some LR with his antenna's blowing in the current. I didn't think much of it but then started thinking. He normally likes to hide between some LR and the back wall, so I wondered why he was out by the front of the tank. I turned on the light and to my horror saw this curled up corpse that was practically transparent!
Until.. I saw bright red / white sticking out from the wall / LR in the back and I realized he molted!

Pretty cool and I was so relieved.

Now what should I do with his exoskeleton? Throw it away, or leave it in the tank? I read somewhere that it provides some good calcium for the tank.. but my tank already far exceeds the required amount of calcium. (alkalinity is perfect too, so no worries there with the balance of those two)

Up to you, the CUC will clean it up or you can remove it, doesn't really matter.

Someone will eat it in less than 2-3 days!

Re: Thought for a moment my Fire shrimp died..

I went in there with some tweezers to pull it out, and my fire shrimp was spazzing out at my hand. so I left it alone yesterday. this morning, most if it had vanished except for some tiny pieces. o_O
