Astrenia stars

My buddies tank looks like the sky on a cloudless night! What caused his tank to become overrun with these?Where did they come from? His tank has been up for about one year now.He has hundreds if not thousands right now.Tank is a 75 with corner overflow and large sump in stand.

Re: Astrenia stars

Why or how would they have just popped up?Is there a reason(cause )for their appearance like overfeeding or some level being off?
I couldn't believe what I saw,a star on every square inch of glass and he said he just scraped and vacced out a bunch last weekend.

Re: Astrenia stars

They will stave out if you have lack of algea for them to feed on. They are scavengers, they are getting it somewhere. Whats your friends tank water look like? He got em from a coral, or a piece of live rock. They just don't appear out of nowhere.

Re: Astrenia stars

He's the one with 540 calcium! All other params are exceptable,as I've tested it with him before.Guess he needs a harlequin as it looks pretty bad in there today when I saw it.They're eating his coraline like crazy(but from a distance cover the glass the same!).
