what can i keep in 6 gal?

I found a great deal on Craigs for a brand new 6 gal nano cube. Sand and rock included. Before I jump on it is thought I ask, what kind fish can I keep in such a small tank?

Re: what can i keep in 6 gal?

After you have the correct amount of Live Rock. None. Your tank will only hold like 2-3 gallons of water. SW tanks filtering comes from the Live Rock, and 2lbs per gallon would be sufficient for its own filtration, the more the better.

Re: what can i keep in 6 gal?

Keep looking and don't settle for such a small tank unless you have no space for even a 20 or 30 gallon tank. I wouldn't mess with anything smaller if you can help it.

Get as large a tank as you can fit into your space and budget or you will soon regret it.

75 Gallon FW Peaceful Community Tank : 7 Roseline Sharks, 2 Honey Sunset Gouramis, 6 Albino Cories, 6 Three-Line Cories, 10 Zebra Danios, 5 Cherry Barbs

20 Gallon High FW Species Tank: 18 Male Fancy Tail Guppies

If you have a 72, you could use the 6 as a fry grow-out tank or as a quarantine tank.

You could keep Corals and a Shrimp in the small tank.

Re: what can i keep in 6 gal?

You could keep 1 goby in a 6 gallon. They are tiny. Not to active either they just sort of perch on top of a rock. One woman had two in a 5 gallon for years. People have keep one in a 3 gallon pico. The problem is feeding you can not over feedunless you want to do water chabges every other day. Plus a few sexy shrimp and that tank would rock. Good luck if you get it.

Re: what can i keep in 6 gal?

Small tanks are really nice, I had a 12 and 14 gal nanocube...Its just things can go bad so quickly. Went up to a 30 gal myself here this last couples months. Awesome!

Just check out the sand and the liverock out closely you dont want nothing bad in your tank, NEW LiveSand and live rock isnt too much if added slowly depending on your budget. I wish you the best!
