Re: broke it down

well im happy you decided to give that fish a proper sized home. but remember no ammenie or whatever its called you may have had it running for a year but that does not mean you have a year under your belt yet.

Yes I no. I have the Clown fish and a few crabs in there. I also have a rainbow acan in there. I need some information on that if anybody has any. Iv been looking everywhere for information on it and can only find where to place it. Not how to care for it.

Re: broke it down

To start with, Acans are LPS, so their requirements, generally are going to be like other LPS (frogspawn, hammer, brains, plates, etc.) Their tissue will swell with more water than an SPS, so you should use lower flow rates, so as not to blast the skin apart.

Lower lighting requirements too. place it in a shaded or subdued spot, they tend to turn solid orange under brighter lighting.

Each polyp has its own mouth that is capable of accepting meaty foods However, like other corals, they do not require direct or target feeding, but would benefit from it for faster growth rates.

LPS have a boney base skeleton, but inflates greatly compared to the skeleton underneath. Moderate calcium levels are required to allow the Acan to continue to grow it's underlying skeleton (unlike softies that don't have a calcium base).
