Adding driftwood

I want to add some driftwood to my well established 55 gal. I have seen species of driftwood mentioned in forum discussions. Mopani is one. Why this species?
I live near the beach with plenty of waterlogged wood and am wondering if it can be safely used. I’m on the Chesapeake which is brackish water.
Tank has angels and a large Pleco. I don’t know what I don’t know. Suggestions and advice please.
