If anyone on the forum or are reading this because this is what you clicked on after a google search and live in Upstate NY looking for a quality saltwater
fish store. I would highly recommend Natures Best Fish & Reef
in Vestal, NY for all your needs!
Note the store only sells saltwater
livestock. But here are my experiences. First they are the friendliest and most knowledgable of anything that has to due with saltwater, always looking to help you. Haven't meet a single employee that hasn't been able to tell me everything I need to know on every single piece of live stock (coral, fish, inverts) along with everything that goes with setting up a saltwater tank. They also have the best prices on tanks and tank packages (can get it set up, drilled or not). Also the best prices and wide variety and selection of fish, corals and inverts. They have the healthiest livestock in the entire area and very clean water. Everytime I'm in there, the staff is cleaning or upgrading their tanks and I'm in there 2-3 days a week religiously. Best live rock in the area bar none. Only thing is you have to get it when it comes in for that "perfect" rock because it doesn't stay I'm the store for more then a day or two. From what I've experienced if they don't have it in the store they will get it for you whatever it may be. Also the lowest prices on any sort of media you want. The list could go on! Only CON I have with the store is that their prices on equipment eg. Protein skimmers, power heads, sumps.... are about the same (give or take $3-4) as the other LFS in the area, being more expensive then ordering the item online. BUT that being said after you add shipping charges to your online order (if any) the store price difference is neglagitable. I can't blame them though no business ever stayed in business with making some type of profit. So in the end it comes down to do you want to wait for your item to come in the mail to save $1-$8 (which if your doing it correctly in the saltwater hobby is neglagitable) or do you want it now so you can go put it on/in the tank? I know for myself I don't want to wait. Also they don't have a wide selection of equipment (what do do have is quality though/no junk). But from what I know they just moved to this location a few months ago ( I was in there when they only had half the tanks set up and in the process of getting the rest being in the middle of moving). But from what I was told they are in the process and have actually ordered more equipment.
I'm done talking your ear off. Thought I would help some people in the area that might not know about the only store they should go to for saltwater.
