My name is Kristen, and have had a ~80 gal freshwater community tank set up for about 2 years. My husband and I both had aquariums when we were kids, and we've really enjoyed keeping fish again after a hiatus of 20+ years! We had a learning curve, as some things have changed since the 80s , and neither of us ever had a tank as large as what we have now. Thank goodness for our LFS when it came time to set up the sump filter!
Unfortunately it appears that we're now dealing with the "bubonic plague" of fishkeeping, columnaris. I found this forum while doing research over the weekend. I read through some of the past threads about it here and they were helpful, if only to know that feeling completely defeated and sad was typical when dealing with this. I'm not sure that I've gotten the best advice from my LFS, but I've tried to remember that they're not veterinarians.
So, that is what led me to this forum. I wish the reason was different, but this looks like a great community and I look forward to getting to know folks .
