Default Take a look at this Angel

This is my first post in a long time. Take a look at this angel. I just got him yesterday as a rescue and it was a stressful ride home. As soon as I placed him in the QT he icked right out.

So far he is not eating. I tried frozen krill with garlic extreme and he just watched it go pass. I was thinking of doing a fresh water dip, but I have never done one myself. So I want to get some more info before I went any further. This is the system he is in I have cut the tank off from the rest of the system just to be safe.

Any insight will be helpful. Thanks

I would not stress him out anymore than he already is. Up the Temp to 84-86. Dose the QT with a Ich Killer. Your choice. I'd prefer Copper. Or to your liking, do Hypo Salinity Treatment, this will also take care of it. Again, your choice, but FW dips are not a cure all if you dn'ot leave them in there long enough, and he's stressed out enough, imo.

Thanks my friend. I did up the temp to about 84. And your right I don't want to add to the stress, poor fish is going through enough. I think other then uping the temp i'll wait until I can get him to eat. To beautiful of a fish to have him not make it through this.

Do you have a QT Tank? I would Hypo him, thats the quick none medicated way of getting rid of it. But, you still have to handle him at that point. Oh, DUH, thats what he's in now.....Worth a shot?

I didn't want to shock him to much, but I do have the salt level down to about 1.019 and the heat up to about 83 degrees.

Hypo. Levels down to 1.009. Wont' shock him. keep the temp stable. You can even lower it back down for breathing purposes during Hypo, keeping his stress down during that time. You should see results pretty quick doing it that way, it'll pop the parasites.

I will drop it down one more time. How long should I leave it in that low level?

I'm just glad I was able to give it a chance. To many times I've seen hobbyist get in over there head with animals that just look good but don't know how to take care of them. He's not out of the woods yet, but seeing him eat was a good sign.

Well friends with a heavy heart I'm sad to say he didnt make it. I'm more hurt for the hobbyist who spent almost $200.00 to find out she couldn't keep a animal like that. Sad to say there are some shop keepers out there who's bottom line is more important then the overall health of your tank. Remember a salesman is in the bussiness of selling you something. Just because you can buy it doesn't always mean you can have it. Friends learn about what is going in your tank before it goes in your tank. If it sounds like I'm sad it's only because I am.
