Default more dead fish

After my initial disaster where all seven of my fish died within four days, a month after I put them in the tank, I let my tank just run fallow until Monday, the 19th. So no fish since October 31. That is seven weeks. Ick should not survive by itself for that long.
I got 2 yellowtail damsels Monday. Did the drip acclimation and put them in the tank. They both went and hid, but within an hour one was out of hiding and ate that evening.
Tuesday, they both had patches of white on them, and Wednesday, they both died.

Tank readings on Monday before I put the fish in, and Wednesday after I took the dead ones out.

Temp 78 degrees
Salinity 1.023
PH 8.2
Ammonia 0PPM
Nitrite 0PPM
Nitrate 5PPM

This is a FOWLR tank but additional readings
Phosphate 0PPM
Calcium 450
KH 11.5
Alkalinity 4.10

I put three Turbo snails in two weeks ago and they are happily cleaning up the brown algae that had accumulated on the rock. Eventually I hope they also keep the glass and sand clean.

I was told by someone on this forum and by my LFS guy that a QT tank isn't really necessary. My LFS guy has been keeping saltwater fish for 27 years and has been giving me advice. I suspect ick so now I have 8 more weeks of no fish.

I recently bought the Marineland Reef Capable light for my tank. It lights it up really good but is very directional. If I was keeping a reef, I would buy a second light. If you have a reef and are looking for a light, I don't recommend the Marineland light. By the time you buy two fixtures you will have as much invested as if you bought an appropriate light in the first place. Marineland suggests, on the box, two fixtures for a reef.

But, your fish brought the Ich with them from the LFS. Thats why some use a QT. I've never used one, and yes I have lost some fish, then again so do the people using QT's. They are just trying to keep the parasites and such out of the DT. If the fish bring it with them, you can't blame your tank for giving it to them. I brought a Powder Blue Tang home once, it was in a Copper medicated tank, and I hadn't added any fish in 6 months to mine. Brought him home, put him in the DT, and BOOM, he contracted ICH. Now where could that have come from? I have fish in my tank, they don't have it. None of my other fish came down with it either, just the PBT. Sometimes you just never know whats going to happen. Put one Reef Chromis in. One. And go from there.

I'll do that, if I can find a place to buy one. I also bought 6 neon tetras for my FW tank from the same place. They all died within 2 hours. I already have 10 in the tank that I have had for over a year. I think the LFS keeps the PH way higher than I do for FW.

Yikes, that should tell you something right there. If all your fish have died from the same LFS in short time. WOW.

I just talked to him. He keeps his FW water at 8.3 ph That is way to high. And I found out they have no guarantee on saltwater fish. So I won't buy from them anymore.
