I'm very new to this forum and I'm a 2nd time owner of a saltwater aquarium. I noticed today that I had these very small white like things attached to my rocks some are shaped oval sorta and some others look like a small fish. Obviously someone in my tank has decided to lay eggs and what not.. I guess my question is who could it be the only "pair" of fish that i have are black and white damsel, others in the tank are red volitan, foxface rabbit, yellow tang, yellow tail damsel and a velvet damsel. And if these are someones young what should i do. I wouldnt mind raising some young, but do i just need to watch over them for now and what happens if ones make it. obviously i would need to get another separate tank going for them? or them and parents?
I'm going to try and post some pictures. Very hard to get a good picture of these little guys. I noticed these guys today.. and I always look by those rocks because my start fish likes to get under the rock in one of those pics and just noticed these today so I'm not sure if they have been there a few days weeks or what.. If this isnt the right place to put this please someone point me in the right direction or if a mod would move it to correct area. |

37 views and nobody?? ouch!!
So i was looking last night after the lights went off, I busted out a flashlight and started looking around more i could see them alot better and i also found the many many more eggs that were laid and waiting to be fertilized? there is just a ton of them they are very tint looking balls attached to liverock by a string... I'm guessing it gonna be the damsels? but i have no clue everytime i go around that area i figure someone would come check out what im doing to protect but i really dont get any of the fish interested in what im doing. Anyones input would be great.... |

Ok, so when I zoom in on the 3rd pic you have, it looks like a Pinnapple Sponge.
But, here is where I get my information from: Live Rock Hitch Hikers

No, not a good thing. They're dependent on silica levels in the tank. They should be self limiting, but if you're introducing silicates into the tank (usually done by not using RO/DI water), you may have the population continue to increase.
