3 a day is alright. He's waiting for them for clean him, like a Cleaner Shrimp.
you could drop the feedings to every other day.

This is brian and he has a great personality. When i put the feeding pole in for the eel i have the trigger bites at it. i couldnt figure why so i rubbed the side of him with the smooth part of the rod and he loves it like a dog i stop he bites it again so i rub the other side hes the coolest fish ive ever owned. No pics yet my camera flooded and im waiting for it to come back.I have a dogface striped puffer in there with him and there best friends they hunt together.my eel usually steals the food when they kill it though LOL none of the work and all the rewards
