Default Anyone know about ghost shrimp?

We recently had a ghost shrimp added to our aquarium lab, and I was wondering if anyone has anyexperience with keeping them (tank set, food, etc). Thanks!

Pretty sure they are like other fresh water shrimp... they will eat some algae but will probaby also like bottom feeder pellets, algae wafers, bits of vegetables and left over fish flakes. Just curious as to why this question is posted in the salt water section as these are fresh water shrimp?

Pretty much what Holly12 said. There isn't anything special to them. They'll eat just about anything they can get their claws on. Mine breed constantly but without a special set up and some brackish+ water it goes no where.

If you're looking for shrimp for your tank just to have shrimp I would check out cherry shrimp or something similar - assuming the tank mates are suitable.

The one given to the lab is a saltwater species, and much bigger than the freshwater ghost shrimp. Maybe the person who donated it to us just called it a ghost shrimp and it's really something else. I'll try and find a pic and post it.

Looks like it's called a "Bay Ghost Shrimp" Callianassa californiensis. However the specimen we received looks a little different than the photo. I'll try and find out what exactly it is from the the scientist who donated it.
