yeah, the mondo grass is technically a bog plant, not a true aquatic. It might do well for awhile, but it might start rotting if left in water...Grows quite well in pots with dirt though.

I already took it out i was curious about it last night and thought it looked very non aquatic. I spoke to petco today and they will be giving me a giftcard to repay me for false labeling. And the driftwood is actually not real it is a replica mopani. I had real mopani in my tanks before but it grew a type of mold on it that I couldn't get rid of so I took it out. I guess this will be easier to maintain. Any suggestions on a small background plant that will make for a dense jungle up the back of my tank? I was thinking dwarf hairgrass but its short for a background and my tank is about 8 inches tall so something around 6inches would be nice

hmm, I have willow hygro that I keep very short that has a really ncie jungle look that I love. It can grow tall and fast but it's a great nutrient sponge and seems to handle lower light just fine. You can start with a few stems, and when they're an inch or two taller than what you want, just clip the stems and replant them. Sooner or later, you'll end up with a nice filled in jungle.
Sagittaria might work too, and vals and even a couple of crypts that can do the jungle look too |

In my experience it's not unusual for driftwood to grow fungus when it's new but it always goes away on it's own after a while and doesn't harm the fish. My nerite snails seem to like eating it too.

I will probably do driftwood again but I want to buy a better quality wood. I bought a cheap old piece at a LFS and I let it soak for over a week and then when I put it in the tank it grew fungus and after several weeks and constant cleaning it never improved so I ditched it.

Usually fungus clears after a couple of weeks but I did have one bit of wood that had fungus on it for about 3 months, I almost got rid of it but then I moved it to a tank with shrimp and snails, they loved it and the wood was soon clean. The fungus has never come back.
