I recently found a pack tuck away in storage, i remember buying this during college, so its from 1997 ish. Opened ammonia alert from the 90s, will it still work or chuck it ?

I think they recommend testing by holding it over liquid ammonia, or some cleaning product that contains ammonia, if it's still good the fumes should change the color.

The Ammonia Alert's do not have an expiration date while still in the package. Once they are put into use, they will last about 1 year. As snail mentioned, the best way to determine if the alert is still functioning properly, simply hold it over a household product containing ammonia and let the vapors hit the sensor. It should change immediately which is indicative of the product working properly. I hope this helps! |
