Hi everyone.
Lately all in the fish in my tank have been yawning a lot. normally the eel yawns occassionally but now both the bass and shark are yawning a lot-very unusual! What could this yawning mean? is it a low level of oxygen, maybe?

They're sleepy, turn the lights off and let them get a nap..
Sorry, I couldn't resist that one..If they come up to the top of the tank and "gasp" for air that means there's not enough oxygen, which can be increased by a power head or anything that breaks the surface tension of the water to allow oxygen to get in. Oops, I just noticed this is in the saltwater forum.... That's what I'd do for freshwater, not sure if it applies to saltwater.. |

Your not going to find alot of difinitive answers on this one. But, if its a big issue, its possible they have a parasite. Just throwing it out there. Most will do their normal yawns, but what would you consider to be excessive? Also, a Python? And a Fish, not really in the same comparing boat.
