Default Stocking Suggestions

Today I was wandering around my favorite LFS and came across a used 29 Gallon BioCube. I asked the owner if it was for sale since it was just sitting in the back and a bit dirty. We hooked it up and made sure everything was working properly, and it was. So after talking to him about it for awhile he let me buy it for $50! I have a bit of scrubbing that I need to do but I could not be happier right now. I am a relative noob to saltwater. My uncle will be able to help me through a lot since he has been taking care of his saltwater setup for 30 years now.

My questions are...

Would starting with a FOWLR be a good choice?

Whats cheaper fish can I keep in there while I learn what exactly to do? I don't want to spend a lot of money and then end up not being successful right out of the gate. I also obviously don't want to kill any fish so easier the better to start out.

I like damsels myself. They come in a variety of colors so you can have a tank of just damsels. They only cost about $4 to $6 a piece. Their main disadvantage is that they are extremely territorial and will attack newcomers to the tank for a week or two.

Other fish I like that are good for a tank that size are clownfish and cardinals. Don't overlook the beauty you can get from putting shrimp in there. Peppermint shrimp are good to have for they eat aiptasia. Coral banded shrimp get large and look pretty. Fire shrimp are also very pretty.

If the tank is new, button polyps are a good addition. They are hardy corals that can easily be feed. I wrote a whole profile of them here.
