Question Trouble identifying my first cycle
Hello,

I have a 36 gallon tank that has been running for a total of about 2 weeks.
A week ago I added 5 Zebra Danios...and a couple of days ago I added 5 Lamp Eye Tetra...

My question is:

Is it possible for the Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate levels in a large-ish tank like mine running with a few small fish to begin with...NOT to register using a API testing kit?

I am getting 0 readings after testing several times since my tank began.

It is possible to get zero readings with fish, but with your size tank and that many fish I would have guessed within a day or two you should register something. Is it a planted tank?

Possibly conducting the test wrong?

Bio-load is probably too low to add enough ammonia to be registered.

That's kinda what I figured. Plus I have pretty good circulation in my tank. I will slowly keep adding fish I guess...

Plants could be sucking in ammonia if you have any. Make sure you have liquid testing.
