Well this is my thread that I am starting about my 55 gallon tank/stand restoration (first) as well as starting it up.

The tank did come with filter/heater/hood/lighting. However I am going to replace the filter with a Bio-wheel filter, and also probably get a new heater.

This will be a freshwater tank. The only LFS for me is petco, so if anyone has suggestions for filter/heater websites please let me know, I also need to get gravel/decorations etc.

Firstly though, I will be thoroughly cleaning EVERYTHING, also revarnishing the stand, and if anyone can suggest a good glass scratch remover to use that would be great. I will be beginning this probably this weekend!.

I would appreciate any advice on anything I mentionted above.
I plan on geting either the emperor bio wheel filter or a rena filter
Also a Titanium heater instead of glass (probably 300 watt put it in the center, or should I put 2 small ones?)

What type of aquarium setup is it going to be?

It is going to be a freshwater.. if thats what your asking?

and just to give everyone an update...
1. cleaned heater, tested, still works, but its the kind that attaches to the side of the tank, and its glass. will probably get a titanuium sumberisble one
2. Cleaned the glass top, still somewhat stained, also might need replacing.. any ideas?
3. cleaned hood, light still works and is in good shape.
4. Tommorow sanding of the stand begins!
