Default treating swim bladder infection?

I have an oranda with a swim bladder infection. It is bacterial, not a result of diet or deformity. When I purchased her she couldn't even swim. She would just float on her side. She also had ammonia burns and finrot, which are now clearing up. I treated with Maracyn I and II, did salt baths (which seemed to help buoyancy a lot), and then treated with metro + as suggested by my local LFS. While she eats pellets, for some reason she kept spitting the gel food I made with it out so I have just been adding it to the water. This has all happened over the course of 2.5weeks and she now swims all day long, but still has a slight lean, occasionally goes tail up, and has the long stringy poop characteristic of an internal infection.

Should I try another treatment after the metro+? Or should I just keep changing the water and hoping for the best. I'm worried once I stop the antibiotics this thing will come back with a vengeance. Anyone been through this before? She's an awesome fish - tries to eat my fingers and is almost "cuddly", though I try not to handle her. I wasn't expecting much in the beginning, but now I'd hate to lose her.

Default Re: treating swim bladder infection?

I would do another salt treatment. I would add it over the next couple of days until you get to a.3%.
The other thing is fast your goldie for a day. Then give it boiled peas, make sure you peel the skin of and cool them in some of the tank water before adding them. This will clean out it's system.
