Hello, I am new to this forum and am looking for help. I have two tanks 1 20 gallon and 1 10 gallon. In my 10 gallon I had 1 small black moor and 1 small calico ryukin for the past year in that tank. 2 weeks ago I lost my ryukin. He had been suffering air bladder problems for a few weeks and I was able to treat with peas effectivley. Unfortunatley he died while in the care of a friend while on vacation. A week later my wife bought me a new ryukin and he has been doing quite well. However yesterday my black moor died. He had no visible signs of distress or illness. I saw him swimming normally and 2 hours later I find him dead. He was between the rear of the tank and my filter intake tube. Water was tested and everything was within normal limits ammonia was 0. I feed them every 4-5 days. I did a 25% water change last night and treated with "stress coat +". I noticed my ryukin this morning acting as if he were feeding at the surface but there was no food. I placed an air line in the tank and I picked up a new air stone today as Im concerned theres a lack of 02 in my tank. Any thoughts?

Its hard to believe the ammonia was that low in a ten gallon, with goldfish. They are high waste producers. How are you testing, with a liquid kit or strips, and how old is the test equipment?
Fish gasping at the surface is a sign of lack of oxygen OR ammonia spikes, which seems more likely. Then again feeding them so little could attest to lower ammonia. Whats in the 20 gallon?Fancy goldfish need thirty gallons for one and then ten additional for each one added, double filtration and weekly water changes. How large are the fish? I would say keep the airstone going, and make sure the tests are reliable.Get him in the larger tank if possible.
