Today when I woke up i noticed that my comet goldfish had something hanging off of his gill slit. it was about an eighth of an inch long. Yesterday he was resting on the bottom of the tank and hovering allot. when i tried to feed him today he didn't accept any food!
My other goldfish was fine and he was fine and eating. ![]() P.S. he is missing scales. |

I can't say for sure without a picture to look at, but it might be a parasitic worm. Is it sort of a roundish thing that doesn't look like it's a scrap of his own skin or something? You might want to google "goldfish worm infestation" or something similar to see if you find anything that looks like what your fish has. Once you find out what it is, you can do the research and treat him accordingly. Or you could upload a picture to the forum and ask if anyone recognizes it. Good luck!
