Default My goldfish

I have 4 tanks running at the moment, 3 tropical, and then my good old faithful goldfish tank. Need to get a coldwater algae eater for the tank still which i will hopefully do soon.

Pictures of my fish

Pretty pretty pretty. Think about snails for the algae eater role, there are good cold water options that are harmless to goldfish, and also just plain water & light management for the algae, since no algae eater is going to be able to totally eliminate algae.

Thanks, I shall look at my LFS next time Im there and see what they have.

I think they are gorgeous, had the biggest 2 for nearly 2 years but thought id get them some friends a few weeks ago. Bit disappointed though with one of them as he has changed colour (I've written and put a picture up in this thread regarding it).

Wow! Nice fishes! I always see these fishes whenever I tour in aquariums. I saw fishes like these when I went to Georgia Aquarium. Aside from small fishes, I was also able to watch sharks, dolphins and other huge fishes swim around.
It was such a cool experience actually!

60 ltr. They were in a 30 ltr till not that long ago as I had got the two bigger ones when they were babies. In fact the black one has been with me since it was in a 15ltr. Im not sure I will be able to upgrade tank size again for a while so I do hope they slow down with there growing.

I wish I could post some, the program for my digital camera is not working right, and I can't find the disc to reload it. As soon as I find it I will load some pics, I would love to share how mine have grown.

It works out at about 15gl I believe, which by the rule of thumb means they are way over stocked, but I don't think they are, there growing hasn't been halted, as I said, as soon as they got to big for the smaller tank I moved them to this.
If i noticed any sign of depression or anything I would do something about it, but they are growing well and really happy in their tank.

The thing you've got to remember is there's never any problem until there is. Fish are never sick until they are, never show any signs of stress until they do - what people are trying to do by saying "these fish are overcrowded" is say - you can avoid the possibility of bad things happening by cutting down the overpopulation you have here. These fish might be small enough now, but they'll have a better chance of living to be big enough to be overcrowded in such a small tank if they are living in a bigger tank. I've read that goldfish can live to be 80 years old with proper care. Think about that. How many goldfish get proper care? Yes, you may be able to skate along with less, but wouldn't it be cool to have a ten year old goldfish? Wouldn't you rather shoot for that?

Up until a month ago they were all in a 30 ltr (7gl) tank. The small 2 only for a few weeks. I had the other 2 in there since they were little, 18+ months ago, it didn't halt there growth and in time, I will have to get a bigger tank again, but for now, I think they are perfectly healthy and happy in the tank they are in.

WOW, that is a small tank. Just to give you a heads up. Goldies need much bigger tanks than tropicals. You single tails should have 20gallons of water each, and you fancys' need 10 gallons per fish. You should have at least a 60gallon tank for them. The common/comet goldies can get to about 12" long, and the fancy can get to about 8" in size. You should also have 10x's the filtration for them. So for a 60gallon tank you should have 600GPH. Goldfish do not have stomachs, so they are very messy, they eat absorb the nutrients and then poop. I hope this helps, under the right conditions and the right care goldies can live for 20years.

i have to say i see these gold fish most days and they are in perfect condition growing and very healthy. i think a tank the size your talking about above 1 goldfish would be so bored and become depressed
