A picture would help!
You say you have 3 goldfish in a 4-5gallon tank????? This is not good at all.
The black spots are probably ammonia burn marks.
Depending on the goldies you have they need a minimum of 10 gallons per goldie. If you have common/comet's they would require 20gallons per goldie. to start off, if you have fancy goldies you should set up 20gallons for the 1st one and 10gallons for each additional. If they are common/comets 30gallons for the first and 20gallons for each additional.
Goldfish are basicly poop machines, they have no stomachs, they eat digest the nutrients and poop. For this reason they need alot more water than normal tropicals. You should also have 10x's the filtration for there tank, ie. a 40gallon tank should have 400GPH.
